Regular Meeting

January 4, 2011

 Commission-chairman Felton called the meeting to order and gave the opening prayer.

 County Attorney Jon Coogle passed out the voting ballots for Chairman and Vice-chairman to the Macon County Board of Commissioners for the election of 2011 officers.

 Chairman A.  Richmond Felton was unanimously re-elected to serve as Chairman and Commissioner George was elected as Vice-chairman by a vote of 3 to 2.

 Vice-chairman George made the motion to approve the minutes of the December 16th meeting as presented, seconded by Commissioner Dougherty and carried unanimously.

 Jeremy Kichler, Macon County Extension Agent, introduced the new part-time 4H-Program candidate Muqita Lumumba and asked for the Board’s permission to hire her.  He stated she would work 19 hours per week at $10 per hour and the position would be fully funded by the county. Commissioner Sutton made the motion to approve hiring Muqita Lumumba as the part-time 4H-Program Assistant, seconded by Commissioner George and carried unanimously.

 Chairman-Felton made the motion to appoint Valerie Davis to fill the unexpired term of Thomas Brown to the Macon County Tax Assessors Board, seconded by Vice-chairman George and carried unanimously.

 Commissioner Dougherty made the motion to adopt the Resolution Amending Section XX-Uniforms and Equipment of the personnel policies and procedures for Macon County, Georgia, adding language concerning the use of county owned cellular telephones, seconded by Commissioner Melvin and carried unanimously. Deputy County Manager Starling was instructed to contact Verizon Wireless on blocking all text messages from county cellular phones.

 Commissioner Melvin made the motion to appoint Marcale Sanders to the Development Authority of Macon County Board of Directors, seconded by Commissioner Dougherty and carried unanimously.

 There being no further business, Commissioner Dougherty made the motion to adjourn, seconded by Commissioner George and carried unanimously.
