The Macon County Board of Commissioners is now accepting applications for the position of Tax Appraiser in the Tax Assessors Office for Macon County. This position is responsible for providing appraisal and administrative support in the service of the department’s operation. Areas of responsibility include: Answers the telephone, greets visitors and responds to requests for information; Appraise mobile homes, prepares annual prebill mobile home digest; Collects data and prepares annual personal property digest; Assists in preparing annual real property digest; Prepares monthly report for the Board of Assessors; Performs related duties as needed.

Minimum job requirements are: High school diploma or GED, previous experience in property appraisal office work, real estate sales, or building construction is a plus; valid State of Georgia Driver’s License.  Must have the ability to attain the Georgia Department of Revenue Appraiser I certification within 12 months of employment.  Other desired requirements include:  Bachelors or Associates Degree or two (2) years of college or technical coursework in related field; one (1) year of administrative experience, preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

The ideal candidate must be able to communicate well and interact with other officials, departments and agencies and proficiently perform duties as assigned. Applicant will be required to pass a physical examination, drug and alcohol test and a criminal background check.
