Macon County Health Department

The Macon County Health Department serves the entire population of the county with services available to everyone regardless of age, race, religion, national origin, political belief, disability or sex. The health department is overseen by a local Board of Health appointed according to law. Visit the Health Department's Website: https://westcentralhealthdistrict.com/counties/macon/

The health department charges only minimal fees for its services, and some services have adjusted fee scales based on ability to pay. They also accept Medicaid and Medicare.

As a division of the Georgia Department of Human Resources we provide a variety of Nursing and Environmental Health services. Clinical services include immunizations, women's health and WIC (supplemental food program)and the Dental program.

The environmental health section is responsible for enforcement of several state regulations involving on-site sewage systems (septic tanks), inspection of food service facilities (Scores), tourist courts (hotels, motels, etc.), and public swimming pools. We investigate complaints related to these programs as well as other environmental problems. The department also conducts water samples of individual wells for bacterial contamination.
