Maintenance Department

The Macon County Maintenance Department maintains and repairs county vehicles and equipment with the goal of achieving the maximum economic service life and lowest maintenance costs with minimum downtime.

The department services and maintains 120 vehicles and pieces of wheeled equipment for the Ambulance Service, Emergency Management Agency, Sheriff's Office, Public Works, Whitewater Creek Park, Recreation Department, Transit, Tax Assessors Office, Building Inspector, County Fire Department, Coroner, County Extension Office and Detail.

Department personnel maintain automobiles, pickups, vans, buses, motor graders, loaders, tractors, excavator, dozers, backhoes, dump trucks, ambulances, fire trucks, patrol cars and generators. The Maintenance Department performs other jobs such as welding, transporting vehicles to repair shops, maintaining service cost records on equipment, and other duties as needed.
