Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Elections Director, the Elections Clerk and Deputy Registrar performs work related to all activities in the election and voter registration process. Maintain any cybersecurity certifications needed to operate County and State software. Communicates with director, employees, other departments, county officials, county attorney, voters, the public, media contacts, state/federal agencies, outside agencies, civic/political groups, candidates, and other individuals as needed to provide open and transparent access to election information.
 
Essential Responsibilities/Duties:
Perform task management in the SOS database system (GARVIS) and maintain voter registration records. Provides administrative and technical support for voter registration functions; distributes voter’s registration applications and candidate information; processes voter registrations and changes in voter status due to change of name/address, move out of area, death, or felony; scan voter registrations into the election management database; create voter identifications and verifications; processes absentee voting; process petitions; prepares correspondence to voters impacted by list maintenance.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Associate degree, High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Two or more years office experience and previous training related to elections is preferred
• Strong computer, verbal, written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with the public and elected officials
• Ability to spend extended time completing data entry.
• Ability to work long hours during elections which may include weekends, holidays, and evenings
• Ability to operate and lift various equipment
 
Certifications
• Notary Public Required (2-3 months after date of hire)
• Possession of a valid State of Georgia driver's license
• Election Official Certification (3-6 after hire)
• Election Official Register Certification (3-6 months hire)
 
In-person application requests only at Macon County Commissioner's Office (Courthouse) located at 121 South Sumter Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia 31068 (478) 472-7021 from April 1-April 29th 2024. Applicants will be required to pass a physical, drug and alcohol test, and criminal background check. Salary to be discussed during interview process. All applications must have a completed resume attached to be considered for hire.

The proposed budget has been submitted to the Middle Flint Regional E911 Authority and will be available at the Director's Office. There will be a proposed budget hearing for Fiscal Year 2023-2024 on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 4:00 PM at the Middle Flint Regional E911 Center, 222 Hayes Ave., Ellaville, GA, at which time the budget will be adopted.
