Plan Requirements

To obtain a building permit the following items must be submitted. There must be a plat, site plan, and building plans. The plans must be designed to meet 2006 International Building Codes, NFPA ( 2005 Edition ), and NFPA 101 Life Safety codes ( 2000 Edition )  along with all Georgia State Amendments certifying is being enforced at the time of issuance and review of plans for the structure that is being built.

The following information must be indentified on the plans that are being submitted:

FOUNDATION / SLAB DETAIL

1. Depth of footer in relation to the grade of the surrounding ground
2. Width and height of proposed footer
3. Size, number and placement of rebar in the footer.
4. Size and placement of reinforcing wire and/or mesh

BOTTOM PLATE CONNECTORS OR ANCHORS TO BE USED

1. Type and size of sill
2. type of connectors and spacing

EXTERIOR BEARING WALL DETAILS

1. Wood ( Species), grade spacing and size
2. Top place spacing
3. Type and size of connectors , if any, being used

WINDOW AND DOOR HEADERS, EXTERIOR WALLS, AND DETAILS

1. Length, lumber size, and grade that is being used
2. Show number of jacks and studs per headers
3. Show connector, top and bottom

SHEETING AND SHEAR WALL DETAIL

1. Location of all shear walls and shear wall segments
2. Type, grade, and thickness of sheeting
3. Type nails or staples and spacing to fastening sheeting
4. Show connectors or straps that may be needed in addition to sheeting

ROOF TRUSS DETAIL
This design may be provided by the truss manufacturer but the drawing needs to be stamped by a licensed Engineer.

1. Material type, grade, length and size, including specs
2. Truss or rafter layout plans
3. Pitch, span and overhang
4. Show wind speed design, uplift and lateral load
5. Blocking, bracing, and connectors required , as well as type

ROOF SHEETING DETAIL

1. Type, grade, and thickness of sheeting
2. Nails or staple size, type, and spacing
3. Blocking, if required

MISCELLANEOUS
Elevation showing at least two elevations
