The Macon County Board of Commissioners is now accepting applications for the position of Mechanic in the Maintenance & Shop Department for Macon County. This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of County vehicles and equipment. 

Areas of responsibility include: Repairs, rebuilds and maintains County vehicles and equipment;  Repairs, replaces parts, plugs, brakes, tires, transmission systems, etc; Performs diagnostic and troubleshooting procedures: Performs preventive maintenance; Welds and fabricate parts, conducts bodywork: Assists with other maintenance activities and performs related duties as needed;

Minimum job requirements are: High school diploma, equivalent supplemented by two (2) years of experience and knowledge in the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job; must have a valid State of Georgia Driver’s License.

The ideal candidate must be able to communicate well and interact with other officials, departments and agencies and proficiently perform duties as assigned. Applicant will be required to pass a physical examination, drug and alcohol test and a criminal background check.
