OGLETHORPE, GA, June 2023-International Paper has awarded Macon County Recreation a $10,000.00 Summer Grant. It is designated to foster Macon County Youth Health, Wellness, and Education.

Per John P. Nixon, Mill Manager, Flint River Mill, “Some of my most fond memories of growing up involve my experiences at summer camp. As someone who didn't have much financially during my youth, those summer camp days meant more than just staying cool and being fed—it was a time when responsible adult supervision made a significant difference in my life. I’m overjoyed to play a small part in providing similar incredible summer experiences for the youth of Macon County. I am confident that these experiences will have a positive and lasting impact.” International Paper’s Flint River Mill has been a part of the community since 1978. The mill produces fluff pulp, which is converted into a variety of products used every day such as diapers, feminine hygiene, and adult incontinence products.
