Applications Accepted – Heavy Equipment Operator

The Macon County Board of Commissioners is now accepting applications for the position of Motorgrader Operator in the Road & Bridges Department for Macon County. This position is responsible for operating a motorgrader and related equipment in support of road and infrastructure maintenance activities. Applications will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2018.  

Areas of responsibility include: Operates heavy earth-moving equipment such as motor-graders, bull-dozers, backhoes and front-end loaders to perform road maintenance activities; Operate light equipment to assist in removing debris, installing signs, and other road maintenance activity as needed; Assists in traffic control for maintenance sites; Performs inspections and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment; Assists with other maintenance activities and performs related duties as needed;

Minimum job requirements are: High school diploma, equivalent supplemented by two (2) years of experience and knowledge in the operation of similar vehicles and related repair and maintenance equipment, technical school training in related field, preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job; must possess a valid State of Georgia Driver’s License. 

The ideal candidate must be able to follow general instruction and successfully perform duties as assigned. This person must be able to adhere to policies and procedures, related laws and standards.  Applicant will be required to pass a physical examination, drug and alcohol test and a criminal background check.
